Pass the Plate
Pass the Plate began soon after Food for the Soul moved into its permanent facility to support the cost of operating the soup kitchen and emergency sheltering and has continued to be a vital fundraising effort. Churches, businesses, community organizations, and individuals are asked to “pass the plate” to help provide meals, food support, overnight winter sheltering, emergency sheltering, and day services to the county’s hungry and homeless.
The Kershaw County community has always been incredibly involved in Food for the Soul’s mission to serve as a Christ-like ministry to meet the basic needs of the hungry and homeless in Kershaw County. Lunch is served to anyone who walks in the door 4 days a week, provide emergency sheltering to those who have an immediate need for housing, and whenever temperatures outside are below 36 degrees, open the center from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am to provide a warm place to stay and food for dinner and breakfast.
